I'm bored and this was a random thought that popped in to my head today. If the admins made it so that all members had to pay to use the zone, would you pay or not? This would probably be aimed more at standard users. I must stress that, as far as I know, there are no plans to actually do this at the moment; i'm just interested to see what people would think of this.
Hmm....I'm not sure if I would pay. I guess that would depend on whether there were other free services like this and if this was a need. Since it's primarily for fun, I don't know that I would pay to use it. That's not a yes or no....just my current thoughts.
I would probably pay for one year, just to see how the site would change. If payment was compulsory then you would expect plenty of standard members would leave, which would take a lot away from the site. On the flip side you would think (or hope) that it would mean more features would be added to the site. I would see how things changed and then decide after that if I wished to stay. All hypothetical of course 'cause the Admins would be insane to try something like that. lol
Maybe at some other time, I'd consider it, but not right now. I'm in hyper saving mode! lol!
I've knocked back our cell phone minutes, didn't renew live365, and I don't think I'm going to renew blind adrenaline.
I'm with the others, it would depend on the price and if the site changed.
Lol, I wonder how many would pay for facebook or my space? Places like that?

I stumbled upon this site via Google and though I've been enlightened on some things - not having been around other blind folks growing up - and it's generally entertaining like a zoo around here, I'd have to say I'd probably give it a miss. Snopes is still free and there's plenty o' parallel between some of what's here and what's there ...
Certainly not. I may have once, but all who exist on here now are extremely clicky individuals who have nothing better to do than gang up and cause drama. Even though this site has games and other stuff, all the drama makes life extremely unpleasant.
I didn't think so before, but I think if a site wants to be serious about a community atmosphere, there needs to be a lot more rules than this.
I think you'd find only certainly people would pay who spend their whole life on here.
Na... I just don't think it's worth it, especially with all this drama.
Although I would miss posting to the Boards and playing some of the games, no. This site is special because it is the only blind/VI-related one I know of that has the most blind/VI people, and it is very easy to navigate and everything, but I don't have the money to continually pay to use any kind of site (not including Bookshare). I also might pay once just to use it for a last time, maybe to get in contact with people I couldn't find otherwise that I talk to so we can talk thru email or IM, but after that, I'd probably start frequenting other free sites I'm already a member of.
I'm with rdfreak. I think the site would be its own downfall because no-one with an ounce of sense would pay to be a part of it.
I certainly think that there are people who would pay to be members of facebook/myspace. There are already people who pay for parts of the applications on facebook, farmville for instance nets millions of $s prophit every year as people pay real money for virtual things to add to their farms..
I would pay if the rules surrounding communication were a little more strict, and if the site's features were enhanced, (more games, more profile options, ETC.), for example, and the price wasn't unreasonable. Otherwise, no.
seeing that I have most people's number who I'd like to speak with I am fine with it. I also can reach a few of them at other places, so I won't be bugged.
wouldn't pay most likely... i'd just as fast migrate to klango probably, or, just curl up and deal with facebook or stick to twitter, all free. mostly...

I so agree with something rdfreak said. the zone has changed so much since I first joined in 2005 that I really do not think I would pay either. They really would have to put some features in that compete with facebook for me to even think about it.
No social networking site is worth paying for to me. I would just find another free one. Awhile back, people were saying Facebook was going to be made a paid site, but I suppose enough people kicked and screamed that it didn't happen (I remember there being several petitions etc.) I don't need online profiles that badly that I would pay for them I guess is what I'm trying to say, no matter how cool the site is.
Personally, I like how we do it now; you can pay for some extra features, and to support the site, which is something that's appreciated, but the community would be a lot smaller if we required money. And in the end, it's the variety of different kinds of people you get in this community that make it interesting.

Well, seeing as Klango is free, and you can post to your own blog, and it has a client, wikipedia browser, all that, I think if this site was paid for I wouldn't mind, just as long as the teamtalk server wasn't taken down, LOL I love teamtalk! Anyways I have Facebook and Twitter to satisfy me if Klango becomes paif-for. And we all know those 2, twitter and Facebook, probably won't be paid for services for a while!

oh well... i surely wouldn't pay because there is nothing more on this sight then facebook and my space. and also there is one more thing,i think the amount of premium membership on this sight is around $25, . which is equal to more then 2000 indian rupees
just think who would like to pay that much money for the sight like this!
